Cruise passengers are invited to an experience that will transport them into the heart of an authentic Mayan town, where they will visit an actual Mayan family, participate in their daily activities and learn about traditional herbal medicines. Guests will then be invited to taste local Mayan dishes that include traditional buried earth-cooked chicken, hand-made tortillas and local exotic fruits and vegetables.

Within close proximity, Costa Maya also gives visitors access to ancient Mayan ruins such as Kohunlich and Chacchoben, featuring structures that date back to 500 A.D. These recently discovered sites offer guests a first-hand look at an ancient Mayan civilization.
